Poetry

Ever since I went to see Garrison Keillor at the Adams Center a few weeks ago and was completely entranced by his ability to recite poetry, I've been reading poems on a daily basis and listening to his Writer's Almanac each morning.  So last week for the family's newsletter card I incorporated a poem about Autumn.  I also played around with my new alcohol inks.  Created a piece of cardstock with the smoosh technique and then punched leaves which I adhered with a little foam tape to give them dimension.  I used one of my fourish stamps and colored it with 3 different shades of marker before stamping it.  I was pretty pleased with how it turned out.  Hope you like it too.  And here's the poem. . .

An Autumn Day

Pumpkins in the cornfield,

Gold among the brown,

Leaves of rust and scarlet

Trembling slowly down;

Birds that travel southward,

Lovely time to play;

Nothing is as pleasant

As an autumn day

Falling Leaves

Hi My Friends,

All week long I've  been watching the leaves slowly fall off the trees in front of my office and around campus.  On my walks to the car at night I love watching them fall softly and slowly in the air - reminds me of that beautiful feather floating on the air in the movie Forest Gump.

So since it looks like the last days of Fall are upon us I thought I'd post a series of all our leaf cards.  We'll start with this beautiful one Mona made last year I think.  She's done some incredible things with this leaf die.

Happy Friday and have a great weekend!

Happy Halloween

Here's the Halloween card I made to send to family last week.  Pulled out the InkaDinkaDoo stamps from last year and my favorite pack of Debbie Mumm paper.  I thought it turned out pretty cute.  Only had 6 trick-or-treaters last night but it was still fun.  Hope your night was fun too.
