Amazing!

Well Gal Pals, I took the plunge and bought the Silhouette Cameo!  I have to tell you it's pretty amazing!  It cuts "like butter" compared to the Cricut.  I was skeptical when I heard it would cut any font on your computer.  But it really does!  Here's a Creating Keepsake font called "Voluptuous" and how it looks in a Word document:

And here's how it looks after cutting it on the Silhouette:

Amazing! Huh?!!  Can't wait for another rainy weekend to play some more.

Hello Cricut

I haven't been doing the weekly family newsletters in quite awhile but wanted to have a few "Hello" cards just in case I felt the urge.  So I was playing around one day I dusted off the Cricut machine and logged in to the Cricut Craft Room.  I searched for the word "Hello" and found this really cute image.  I wanted to keep the card clean and simple and flat so I added some Stickles to the butterfly for a little interest and then hold-punched some "dots" and Stickled those as a substitute for brads.  The paper was part of a Stampin Up paper pack.  The word background seemed to fit with the concept of a "Hello" card.  Not sure I totally love it but I think the family will - especially if it has a nice long letter included inside :-)

Something New

Good morning Gal Pals and Happy Friday!

Just wanted to share an email I received yesterday about the new Cricut Stamps which match their cut files.  Kind of fun!  I plan to check it out soon.  Hope you have a good weekend.

Noah's 1st Birthday

Noah - my grandbaby (Allan's step-daughter's child) - is turning 1 next Monday. Allan will be at his big party this weekend in Wilmington, North Carolina. Natasha, Mom, rented a club house and there are 50 people on the invite list. While I'm really looking forward to my "party for one" weekend, I sure do wish I could be there to see how he handles all the fun. It's been so much fun to watch him grow this year. Natasha and Cameron, Dad, have been great about posting pictures once a month and Allan and Natasha talk every week so all the updates make us feel as close as possible. And we've even Skype'd a time or 2.

Here's the card we (and I really mean we) came up with. Allan's so funny when I'm in my craft room doing something like this - he wants to watch what I'm doing, play with the Cricut and then of course can't resist giving me his input. Most of the time his input is really great and this time was no exception. He basically was responsible for the embellishments in the corner and the placement & pop up of the scalloped circle. Got the paper with matching ribbon and embellisments at Memory Lane. Loved the dinosaurs and the colors are ones that Natasha seemss to dress Noah in. Hope he loves it. And most of all I hope he continues to have a wonderful life full of love and adventure.

Spring cards

Hi My Friends,

Posting pics of a few cards I made last night. I got all twirled up looking at inspiration cards and although I should have been putting the 2nd coat of primer on the bathroom cabinets I just couldn't resist some play time in the craft room.

Mona - since I don't have that cute butterfly punch or die cut I improvised and used one of my Cricut cartridges - Home Accents. I thought it turned out pretty good even though I messed up the glitter a little. But I'm anxious for our next play date to see how it looks with the SU punch or die.

Finally got around to finishing the cards for Easter. I love, love, love this paper. I'll have to remember too buy up another 6 sheets on Tuesday. (Val - I'll save some for you for next year when you're done with your New Year's Resolution and allowed to buy paper again! :-) ) Happy Friday - Jewel!
P.S. - Mona, Katie - I checked the Of The Earth stamp set back in if you want to check it out to play. Val - do you still have Berry Christmas checked out? No problem but just want to keep our blog up to date. Thx.
