This is a quick and easy "stash busting" card made with my inchie punch and some of my scraps. Love how it turned out. May do one in every color group and even some with my seasonal scraps. The sentiment stamp is from the Stampin Up "Perfectly Penned" stamp set.

Birthday Hooky
Hi Gal Pals!
Playing hooky on the eve of my birthday and having a grand old time! Finding more ways to use up some paper scraps. Made this goofy little container to hold Maddie's treats. Used my empty Nestle's Quik jar, some 1 inch paper strips and some washi tape. Messed up some of the seams so I added a little creative deviation with a cute stamp that Val gave me a long time ago. I kind of like it - and so did Maddie! OK - he really only liked what was inside but I'm going to take his approval any way I can :-)
Hope you had a good Friday the 13th. Beware of that full moon tonight. Someone told me today we won't have another full moon on a Friday the 13th until 2049. What a fun fact to know and tell, huh?! (Val - no wonder you haven't been able to sleep this week! That old moon has been playing tricks on you.)
See you back here on the blog next week.

100+ days is WAY too long
Happy Monday Gal Pals! Hope you had a good weekend.
Can't believe it's been over a 100 days since I've posted anything. Guess I just needed a blogging break. But there's been a few things I've found out on the Inter-Google over the last few weeks that make me say. . ."I need to share that with my Gal Pals!". Plus truth be told it makes me feel close to you when I write to you before heading off to work :-)
So here's a little something I found while surfing and sipping coffee this morning. It's in the theme of Stash Busting - using leftover patterned paper, ribbon and embellies for gift wrapping. Kind of cute, huh?
Stay dry today. See you back here soon!

Fun Scraps
Good Morning Gal Pals! Hope you had a good weekend.
I *finally* got a little time in my craft room and made some kits and this cute card.
It was an inspiration I found on Pinterest. What a great way to use up scraps! I did the sentiment in Word and then used my new chicken wire embossing folder, which I just love.
I'm going to bring a few more scraps for tomorrow night along with my Cuttlebug and make a few more. Bring some scraps too if you're so inclined. I'll have some extra sentiments printed out and ready.

Bookmarks
These are some quick little bookmarks I made with some scraps laying on my craft counter. The one on the right was a special request from Cricut man - a Griz bookmark just "plain" - no foo-foo embellishments he said. Silly man!

Packing Day
It's our final packing day today - taking care of all the loose ends and "scraps" here at the apartment. So I thought it was only fitting that I post a card I made awhile ago using pieces of paper scraps from another project. I like the design. If I remember correctly it was actually a sketch from one of the clean and simple challenge blogs I follow - just can't remember which one right now.
Not much time to "chat" today so I'll just leave you with a quote I captured awhile back from the TV show "Brothers & Sisters". It touched my heart back then and seems so appropriate today. . . .
“. . . .You realize that what’s happening, as horrible as it
is,
is bringing you closer to the people you love and
is reminding you of what
is most true in your life. . .
and that is a good thing.”
~(from the character Robert during an episode of
“Brothers & Sisters” re: Kitty’s cancer)

Family
What's Brewin' Gal Pals? Can't wait to catch up with you tonight.
This is the card I made for the family this week. I was inspired by this post on Pinterest. I bought the "Take A Sip" wheel stamp from Stampin' Up years ago and surprise had never used it. So when I saw the card on Pinterest I knew the theme would be just perfect. But I can't for the life of me get a good impression from those wheel stamps so I unmounted it and put it on a long acrylic block and just stamped the image panels that way.
I couldn't figure out how to get the sketch in the Pinterest card to work so I used one from this post. I just loved the idea of using the scraps from my coordinating paper packs for this. Plus embossing the entire panel gives it a cool look. I thought the swirls kind of matched the theme of the steam from the coffee and tea.
I loved how it turned out so much that I made a few notepads to take with me to Easter dinner for my neighbor family.
Aren't they cute?! Wish I would have kept one for myself.

Scraps
We haven't had a good scrap card in a long time. And after a weekend of playing and making things with all the scraps on my craft counters, this find was a little inspiring. I really love the way she cut some off at the edges and popped others up for dimension.
Here's another in a different color scheme. . .

Quick and Easy
I know most of my Gal Pals have seen this card at the shop but I wanted to get it posted on the blog for use later on. With all the coordinated paper packs I've been picking up here and there, this is a great card sketch to keep on hand for those last minute cards you might need. I actually got the sketch from the Clean and Simple web site - one of my favorite sites for easy-peasy ideas. I've got the dimensions for the patterned pieces somewhere on my craft counter - which is kind of a mess right now :-( but will edit this post as soon as I find them. I've also made a bunch of different versions of this card and will post them too. Working on the one for Christmas now.
Hope you all have a good weekend. We'll be at the Brawl of the Wild Griz-Cat game on Saturday. It ought to be a good one.
See ya' back here next week.

Paper Wishes Kits and Scraps
I'm back to digging in my stash and came across an unfinished card kit from Paper Wishes. One of about 15 I'm ashamed to say! So I made the shape card. The kits typically have a shape card in each kit and I have to tell you I'm not a huge fan of shape cards. Typically because they use some hokey clip art or they never really feel solid in your hand because the cutting of the shape seems to make the card flimsy.
But with all that said, I really liked how this one turned out. I'm probably going to send it to Noah, Allan's grandson, for Christmas. Just thought it would look cut on a counter or shelf or dresser.
And then because I had some patterned paper and clip art left - one of the really nice benefits of the card kits - I made this card from the scraps and a few old, old supplies in my stash. . . leftover snowflake Dazzles, a snowflake eyelet and some fibers I think I bought at Angie's place almost 10 years ago!
That's one way of appeasing my guilt for the cost of the card kits. They give you the supplies and patterns for 10 cards with each kit but I typically can get another 6-10 cards from all the scraps. That makes it a real bargain, huh?! :-)
Hope you enjoyed scraps week. Have a great weekend and I'll see ya' Monday.

Touch of Kindness Scraps
So today's "scrap" post features the Touch of Kindness stamp set. It was the one I used in this post for a family newsletter card.
I didn't have many scraps left from that card but I managed to make a bookmark for my SU catalog and this post-it note cover which I gave to a teammate.
You'll notice I didn't have a full piece of the red paper to mat the stamped image which normally would have driven me nuts. But somehow it worked and I was OK with it.
See ya' back here tomorrow for the last day of scrap week.

More Scrap Cards
I guess I'm going to declare this week's post to scraps. Here's a card I made from some scraps from the weekly family card. It turned out so cute and I liked it so much I gave it to Val for her birthday. I played around with some paper piecing on this one. I just really wanted the image to tie in with this paper. I like the coordination part of putting cards together. Maybe because I'm not very good at collage type cards. Coordinating color and pattern then becomes a way of stretching a little without getting too collage-gy.
Here's another version of the same card sketch. Not quite as cute as Val's birthday card but still cute.
Both cards gave me an opportunity to use some of the $1 Snag 'em Stamps from Imaginisce that Debbie and Staci sometimes keep up at the counter. That's what I like - impulse items you have to buy but you're only out a buck!

Butterfly Punched Flowers

This is a card I made for Val during the height of all her bad breaks life was throwing at her. The tide has started to turn a little but it's slow building momentum. Let's hope smooth sailing is not far around the corner.
I made the flower on the card at the shop on Tuesday this winter. It was a technique I read about somewhere out in blog land. But you basically take the Stampin' Up Butterfly Punch and punch 5 images out of double-side paper. Then you fold them a little off center and interlock them and attach them to a circle that's been backed with score tape. Attach a big decorative brad in the middle and "Ta-Da!" you've got a really cute embellishment.
The stamp is one of the little cuties from Stampendous that Memory Lane has been carrying more of. I love them! And the sentiment was so perfect for this card. The paper was from one of the 6x6 Lime Twist paper packs - another of my favorites that the shop has been carrying.
And since I had a few punches and scraps on the craft counter after I made this, I threw together one more. . . .
The flower on this one I didn't get interlocked as well so it looks a little different but I curled the paper more which gave it some more dimension. But I loved the paper and color combinations. I think one of the neices will get this one for their birthday.
See ya at the shop later today.

Betty's Scraps
I'm so glad Betty's back and active again. I was catching up on her blog the other day - marveling over some of the stuff she's been creating - and stumbled across this post with a sneak peek to a new class she'll be doing. Even though this sample is an ATC (Artist Trading Card) the technique for the ATC itself could translate easily to a card. I love how she used small strips of her scraps. It's kind of like that herringbone technique we saw on Splitcoast not long ago. Cool!
P.S. Check out the crafting retreat she references in that blog post. Sounds fun. I'm trying to get more details. Will be sure share what I find out.

Scraps Day
Wanted to share a cute idea I stumbled on while blogging last week that uses up what I know we all have in our offices. . . .the pile ready for the shred box. . . .
Look what you can do with a little help from one of my favorite toys, the Bind-It-All. . . . .
Aren't those adorable?! I suppose if you didn't have a Bind-It-All or didn't want to use it you could do something similar with just "O" rings.
Here's the link to the full blog post on how to make them. I'm gonna have to try this one out for sure.

Scraps Day #14
Saw this card on this blog - a link from a post on the PaperCrafts blog - and thought it was "interesting". It's kind of busy - especially since I've been in a very Clean and Simple design mode these days, but I love the concept of using up tiny scraps in a clever way.
Hope you Wednesday, Hump Day, is a good one. I may not post again this week as I'm off to Florida in the morning. But if I get stuck in an airport somewhere (God forbid!) you may see me back here. Until next time. . . Take care.

Scraps #13
This post was on my favorite Clean and Simple blog, Simplicity. Thought it was such a clever and elegant way to use up some coordinating scraps.
Had a good time at the shop last night as always. It's fun to think about the possibility of Val spending all day there in just a couple of months if she so desires. Can't even begin to imagine what the life of retirement leisure is going to feel like for her. Lucky, lucky lady!!
Here's the link to the Stampin' Up Clearance Rack I was telling you about. The designer paper I had at the shop last night is gone but they have another couple of cute sets and boy! at 3.99 that sure seems like a good deal. Let me know if you need anything.

Scraps Day #12 (For Smart Kids)
Mona was telling me last night about Bryton and how he's reading now and sounding out words. That boy is one smart cookie - you could tell years ago just by looking in his eyes how bright and curious he was about his world. It will be so much fun to watch him grow up.
So when I saw this on the Paper Crafts blog this morning I thought what another cool way for Mona to use her paper scraps - making something creative but educational and spending time with her favorite little boy.
Have a wonderful day.

Scraps Day #11
This is another scraps post for Mona. We missed you at the shop last night. Hope you're feeling better.
I made this flower pot (and another just like it) for my neighbors Marilyn and Judy several years ago with scraps of Christmas papers. Some of the scraps where already small, others I just tore so there were a similar size. I then decoupaged them on a clay pot that I had base painted and some cute ribbon around the rim. Lastly I planted a little plant in each.
It still tickles me to this day to walk in Marilyn's kitchen and see the pot sitting on her windowsill. Just because I'm in a Halloween mood right now, I'm thinking it would be so cute to use scraps of Halloween papers and do the same only put candy in the pot and sit it on my desk at work. How fun!

Scraps Day #10
Hope everyone had a good evening last night and didn't work too hard - either chasing numbers for the financial statements of chasing a sweet baby girl :-). Can't wait to hear what Kody thought of the Miranda Lambert concert.
Today is scraps day. Here's a cute card with some hearts punched from scraps but the blog post it came from has some really clever ideas and other photos of how to use scraps from a sticker sheet. Thought that was kind of a cool twist for scraps day.
Have a good one.
