Sympathy Card

This post is for Mona. . .

Remember when we were splitting up the stamp sets and talking about how the "Serene Silhouettes" set is really great for sympathy cards?  Well I saw this one on Splitcoast this morning while looking through the Clean and Simple Card Challenge gallery from last week and thought I'd share it here in case you missed it.

Not only do I love that stamp set, I love how it looks with a neutral color palette.  Plus I'm sure you have a "scrap" of ribbon that you could use and some brads in your "stash".  More "busting" to be done! :-)

Looks like we might be drying out a little today - thankfully!  Have a good one!  See ya' back here soon.

Lonely Leaf

I love this card - or more precisely, I love this picture.  It's one Allan took a couple of years ago during a Fall  walk along Old Grant Creek Road.  We stopped to watch the creek and he snapped a shot of a lone aspen leaf floating by.  After the weekend we just had, that time and space feels very far away.

We got home Monday shortly before noon from our North Carolina trip.  We had a wonderful time with Allan's family.  I have lots of stories to share when I see you next week.  Maybe I'll bring a little sunshine with me!

Hope you're staying warm.

One Layer Part 2

This is another one layer card - similar to this one I did several months ago.  Well I guess it's not technically a one layer card because I matted the stamped image before adhering it to the card base, but you get the jist.  I love the color combination but I do want to try it in some other colors too.  I used a couple of the excess stamp sets Val passed along.  Thanks! one more time Val!!!  Loved the butterfly set - it's a keeper for sure!

I made this card for the family but the more I look at it the more it seems like a sympathy card to me.  Unfortunately I've needed a few of those lately so I've been looking for more good designs.  Please pass them along if you find any during your browsing.

I'll leave you today with another quote from the back of the digital CardMaker magazine archives I browsed through last week.

Peaceful Wishes

This is a condolence card I made for a good friend from my time in Missouri.  She lost her husband a couple of weeks ago in a very tragic motorcycle accident.  Having walked a similar path of grief, my heart and mind have been with her so much since hearing the news.  I think it will be like that for some time to come.  Although nothing can heal that kind of pain, I do hope that she finds moments of peace in her heart along the way.

And given the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 this weekend, the sentiment of "Peaceful Wishes" also feels appropriate for all the victims and their families and for the rest of us too.

Hope the start to the week is a good one.  Go gently and peacefully today.
